Area Sales Director, East Coast

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Area Sales Director, East Coast to lead our commercial efforts across the eastern United States. This leadership role is responsible for driving regional growth, developing high-performing sales talent, strengthening customer relationships, and expanding TESCAN's presence within key scientific and industrial markets.
The ideal candidate is a strategic sales leader who thrives in a technical environment, enjoys building strong customer partnerships, and has a proven track record of delivering sustainable revenue growth.
What You'll Do
- Lead and develop the East Coast sales team to achieve and exceed bookings, revenue, and market share objectives.
- Create and execute regional sales strategies aligned with corporate growth initiatives.
- Coach, mentor, and develop sales professionals while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and customer focus.
- Build and maintain executive-level relationships with customers, research institutions, industrial organizations, and strategic partners.
- Drive new business development while expanding opportunities within existing accounts.
- Collaborate with Product Sales Specialists, Marketing, Applications, Service, and Business Unit leaders to deliver customer-focused solutions.
- Monitor pipeline health, forecasting accuracy, and sales performance metrics to ensure business objectives are met.
- Analyze market trends, competitive activity, and customer needs to identify new growth opportunities.
- Support strategic customer engagements and participate in key negotiations and deal development activities.
- Travel throughout the East Coast region to support customers, team members, industry events, and business initiatives.
What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Physics, Engineering, Materials Science, Business, or a related field.
- 7+ years of progressive sales experience within scientific instrumentation, advanced technology, capital equipment, or related technical industries.
- 3+ years of successful sales leadership experience managing regional or geographically dispersed teams.
- Demonstrated success driving revenue growth and developing high-performing sales organizations.
- Experience managing complex solution-based sales cycles and executive-level customer relationships.
- Strong business acumen, strategic planning, forecasting, and CRM management skills.
- Ability to travel up to 50% within the assigned region.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within electron microscopy, surface analysis, spectroscopy, nanotechnology, semiconductor, materials science, or related scientific instrumentation markets.
- Advanced technical or business degree.
- Experience leading sales teams across large, multi-state territories.
