Software Engineer II – Backend & DevOps
Here, backend isn’t just about data and APIs. It’s part of an electron microscope.
As a Software Engineer II at Tescan, you’ll develop software for our FIB-SEM and TEM electron microscopes. Alongside software development, you’ll also contribute to the build and release environment supporting our software.
You’ll collaborate with colleagues across different development teams and gradually build an understanding of how software, electronics and hardware come together in a scientific instrument.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and maintain backend software for FIB-SEM and TEM electron microscopes.
- Work primarily with C++23, as well as Python or C#.
- Work with technologies and tools such as Qt, Boost, CMake, Git, GitLab and Visual Studio.
- Contribute to build and release processes, automation and software delivery.
- Test, debug and improve software stability and reliability.
- Collaborate with Applications, Electronics, Hardware and Service teams.
What You’ll Bring
- Knowledge of C++, Python, C# or a comparable programming language.
- An interest in backend development and in understanding how software interacts with hardware.
- Experience with, or an interest in, DevOps, build systems, CI/CD or release engineering.
- A structured approach to technical problem-solving and debugging.
- Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Good working English for regular collaboration in an international environment.
- Electrical competence in accordance with Government Regulation No. 194/2022 Coll., or eligibility to obtain it.
It’s a Plus If You Have
- Experience developing software for hardware, technology products or scientific instruments.
- Knowledge of Qt, Boost, CMake or GitLab.
- Experience with build/release automation or CI/CD.
