Field Service Engineer
Location: Shanghai or Wuxi, China
Join Tescan’s Field Service team and help customers keep advanced scientific instruments performing at their best. As a Field Service Engineer , you’ll install, maintain, and troubleshoot systems used in research and industry, combining hands-on technical work with customer support.
What You’ll Do
• Install and commission Tescan systems at customer sites, including site preparation checks and acceptance testing.
• Perform preventive maintenance, calibration, and system optimization to ensure reliable operation.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues across electromechanical, electronic, vacuum, and computer-based control systems.
• Train customers on system operation, basic maintenance, and safe working practices.
• Maintain accurate service reports and records of maintenance and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with regional and global Service, Applications, and Technical Support teams to resolve complex issues and improve service quality.
• Follow safety and quality requirements throughout all service activities and develop your expertise across Tescan product lines.
What You’ll Bring
• A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant industry experience.
• Preferably 2–5 years of field service experience with scientific, analytical, semiconductor, or high-vacuum equipment.
• Experience with electron microscopy systems, such as SEM, FIB, or TEM/STEM, and/or X-ray micro-CT systems would be a strong advantage.
• Practical knowledge of vacuum systems, precision mechanics, digital and analog electronics, and PC-based control systems.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and confidence using diagnostic tools such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
• Clear customer communication skills, the ability to work independently, and a proactive approach to learning.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.
• A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel frequently, typically 50–75% of working time.
• The ability to safely handle equipment components weighing up to approximately 23 kg.
