As a Senior System Engineer II, you will contribute to the development and integration of complex micro-CT systems, working across mechatronics, imaging, and control domains. You will help shape robust system architectures and ensure that advanced hardware and software elements come together seamlessly.

What You’ll Do

  • Contribute to defining, documenting, and evolving system architecture across mechanical, electrical, control, and acquisition domains.

  • Define, decompose, and maintain system and subsystem requirements, ensuring clear traceability and performance alignment.

  • Execute and support hardware-software integration, including timing, synchronization, calibration workflows, and data flow validation.

  • Plan and perform system-level testing focused on imaging quality, motion precision, calibration accuracy, stability, and reliability.

  • Perform technical analyses, simulations, prototyping, and trade-off evaluations to balance performance, feasibility, cost, and risk.

  • Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, software, imaging, production, and service teams to resolve issues and align implementation.

  • Participate in EU and national research projects, taking ownership of assigned work packages and delivering agreed technical outputs.

What You’ll Bring

  • A strong multidisciplinary engineering background with experience in system, mechatronic, mechanical, or electrical engineering.

  • Hands-on experience integrating hardware and software in complex systems, with confidence navigating cross-domain challenges.

  • A practical, structured approach to testing, validation, calibration, and root-cause analysis.

  • Solid understanding of precision instrumentation and imaging principles, such as motion control, sensors, acquisition timing, or X-ray systems.

  • Comfortable software literacy, including basic scripting (Python preferred) and reading system interfaces and data flows.

  • Several years of experience in system engineering roles within complex hardware or scientific instrumentation.

  • A systems-thinking mindset, strong technical ownership, and a proactive, collaborative way of working.
